MoKo Slim fit Google Android Tablet

MoKo Slim fit Google Android Tablet

I searched around for a case that had the most features for my use. This is very similar to the Moko Slim-Fit PU Leather model (MoKo(TM) Slim-fit Cover Case for Google Nexus 7 Android Tablet by Asus, Black (with Automatic Sleep/Wake Function, Protective Hardback, Built-in Multi-angle Stand, Elastic Hand Strap, and Stylus Loop)--Lifetime Warranty) with two differences. There is no stylus loop holder (the title says there is one, but you can see in the photos there is not) and this one is genuine leather (not PU leather). The leather feels great and should improve over time. I really like the band to help with holding the tablet in a portrait view. There is also an elastic band that holds the front cover behind the tablet. This band goes over the top right and bottom right corners. It does not interfere with the touch screen in any way; however, it does cross over the power and volume buttons and makes it a little difficult to reach the buttons. The clip that holds the front cover closed is tight enough to stay closed, but is easy to open when you want it open.

It is not too thick and feels nice in your hand. My opinion is the case will protect from the elements like dirt and scratches, but I don't think it will protect the tablet very well from drops. I think this case could be paired with one of those zipper padded travel cases if you are looking for more drop protection.

The inside microfiber is very soft to the touch and feels nice. The clips hold the tablet firmly, but is also easy to slide out of the two corners to put in the horizontal stand.

There are holes on the back for the rear speakers. All of the ports are easily accessible.

I like this case design better than those that wrap around the face of the tablet. This design makes swiping across the screen easier.

The auto sleep/wake works perfectly. Open the cover and the tablet turns on. Close the cover and the tablet turns off. When folding the front cover behind the tablet, it remains on.

Pros:

+ Auto Sleep/Wake
+ Genuine Leather
+ Multi-Angle Horizontal Stand
+ Elastic Hand Strap
+ Elastic Front Cover Holder
+ All Port Easily Accessible
+ Case Designed For Easy Swiping Across Screen
+ Looks Good
+ Lifetime Warranty

Cons:

- No Portrait Stand
- No Elastic Stylus Loop Holder
- Elastic Front Cover Strap Interferes With The Power And Volume Buttons When Holding Front Cover Open
- Probably Not The Best For Protecting From Drops (Edges Are Exposed)

The cons are minimal and I would recommend this case to anyone.

  2. I'm pretty happy with this case after a few hours with it. The hooks that hold it in place by friction don't ruin the lines of the device as much as other case types that fully enclose the perimeter. When closed the case is thin enough that it retains much of the thinness that makes the Nexus 7 a sleek and attractive device. The case neither enhances nor ruins the aesthetics of the N7.

As for the outer case material, well, all these PU leather cases look awful, and this one is no different. But it's no worse than the others. However, the light-colored microfiber interior doesn't look bad at all.

The magnet is flawless: no false positives or false negatives. NFC works quite well through the back. While laundry-tag-style NFC tags are inherently shorter-range than those with larger antenna surface area, they do work through this case, which was not true with another brand that I tried yesterday. I'm left-handed, so the hand strap is actually a bit dangerous because it could encourage a kind of one-handed grip that lets the tablet flip out onto the floor. But I'm used to those kinds of problems in this right-handed world, so I'm not counting it against the case.

Until I find better, this is the one I'll recommend to my N7-toting geek friends. I will snicker quietly to myself because a "moco" is a booger in Spanish, but at least the spelling is different.

  3. At a first glance, this case is amazing (this is the latest version with completely functional auto-wake). However there seems to be one rather large issue with the way that the magnet has been inserted. The magnet is located beneath the handstrap and if you lift the handstrap, you can see its outline beneath the fabric. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that this causes the corner of the handstrap to be the only part of the case that touches the screen when it's closed. Over the course of a week, this has created a series of dimples (that mirror the stitching in the hand strap) on my screen protector. Additionally, this is dangerous because it means that when/if you drop the device face-down with the case closed, the entire force of impact is directed into one point on the screen - greatly increasing the chance of screen breakage.

EDIT: This is back to 5 stars thanks to BSCStore's amazing customer service. They sent me a free replacement and everything I wrote about above is fixed in the new version that they are now shipping out.

  4. The newest version of this case has all issues fixed. The auto sleep/wake feature works properly and does not turn the screen off if the cover is flipped all the way around (I received my replacement today). The initial batch of cases lacked the auto sleep/wake feature and the second batch of cases was plagued by the issue where the case would shut the screen off if the cover was flipped all the way around. The third batch of cases, which is what you would get if you order it now, has these issues resolved.

They have also changed the cutout for the speaker from a slot that covered half the speaker to holes that run the entire length of the speaker. Now, the sound is no longer blocked from one of the speakers.

BSCstore was very proactive in fixing the issues that arose in the first few batches of cases. I would do business with them again in a heartbeat.

I uploaded a few images of the fixed case and one image of the old case next to the new one so you can see how the speaker cutout has changed.

  5. This case fits the Nexus 7 perfectly. It is very sturdy, looks great and even feels great to hold. I've bought cases for Kindle, Nexus, and Galaxy Tab 7. This is the nicest case I've used. "Claw" style is a must as I dislike over-the screen holders and elastic bands. Highly recommend.
On the downside, it takes some getting used to. When you flip it to "kickstand" mode, you have to wrench it free from two of the tabs that hold the tablet in place.

+ Looks and feels very well-made
+ Automatic on/off works very well
+ Free access to the screen
+ Easy access to side button and rocker
    + 2 fold stand angles
    + Decent protection (accidentally tested)

    - Strange design takes some getting used to. It's confusing at first and it feels like you are harming it somehow.
    - Not sure if the "bottom claws" will continue to work over time with repeated fold stand use.
    - No portrait swivel for stand mode

Apparently, they fixed the issue that caused the tablet to switch off when the flap is folded all the way back. Since this was apparently an issue with previous versions, let me reiterate that the auto on/off works perfectly on the one I have.

  6. I was looking for a case exactly like this, as I had the Marware leather folio case for my Kindle Fire and I loved it, and it's ability to stand up in landscape - great for watching TV shows while laying down in bed. The case is made of a high-quality faux leather, but the part I like the most is the interior - it's a really dense cloth-like material that feels good in the hand and doesn't look like it will be abrasive against the screen glass. It secures shut using a little notched piece - it's hard to explain, but it's easy to open and close and seems secure enough to me. I feel like I would be a little bit less likely to shatter the glass while using this case if I were to drop it, but I wouldn't want to test it by any means. Only non-positive thing I can say is I'm not really sure what the elastic band on the inside is for, but it's close enough to the edge of the case that it doesn't hinder anything, i.e. standing the tablet up in landscape, and one could remove it with scissors or an x-acto knife if they wanted. The magnetic on-off feature works as advertised. Overall an excellent case, and the price point is good.

I have zero complaints about this case. It is inexpensive but not cheap. What I mean is that it seems to be made well and is well thought out. I would definitely recommend this product.I like the pro and con reviews so here it is:
    Pros:
-securely holds and protects your Nexus 7 (This was a concern of mine. I didn't know how I felt about the way it is held by the pleather nubs holding it in place in the corners. However, I can say it is secure and protected)
-Although not leather, has a comfortable quality feel. Stitching is done well with no fraying.
-The intergrated prop to hold your Nexus up is a feature I do not use much but works well and has 2 viewing angles.
-The strap for your hand. While I thought this was a pointless feature, I have used it more than expected. I can walk around with this without feeling like I am going to drop it.
-The smart sleep magnet in the cover is nice. (Like the Ipad there is an integrated magnet in the Nexus 7 that the cover interacts with. When you close the cover the Nexus 7 automatically goes to sleep)
-This is a huge plus, if you apply a screen protector (I have one on in the video) the cover won't peel it off at the edges. I had this happen with an I phone case. The case was great but would peel off any screen protector I used.
    Con:
-If I am going to be nitpicky the little elsatic strap to hold it open is a little annoying but does not diminish the product.
